Anniversary dinner . . . . . . we enjoyed a superb evening at The Cookie Jar with our friends to celebrate their 39th Wedding Anniversary. The Staff were welcoming and professional and the public areas are beautiful; the furnishings, ceramics contribute to a well thought out environment. We enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal with champagne, wine and port; very reasonably priced for the quality that we enjoyed. We look forward to returning as we live locally and highly recommend.

Wonderful bridal and honeymoon suite We had the most wonderful stay for our wedding at Alnwick Gardens. We booked the chapel suite for two nights and the hotel were so welcoming and flexible. It was the perfect place to get ready with friends, family and photographers! Plenty of space for hairdressers and all the other wonderful chaos that comes with a bridal party. The hotel even started breakfast for us extra early so we could get an early start on the day and turned the room around completely for us during the wedding to transition from staying with mum to staying with husband - just great! The staff at breakfast were very friendly too! Despite a very long day we stayed up late to make use of the epic copper bath in the room - it was the perfect honeymoon suite! We will certainly be back for an anniversary.

Our second stay Our second stay at the cookie jar and this time we bought friends, it was everything we remembered. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to help you. The food is great-I would be lost without their fabulous granola pots and my cheeky husband asked for the addition of baked beans on his breakfast which was hastily supplied. We had evening meal and the portion size and taste was great.Plenty of choice for all tastes. A great selection of cocktails and drinks and all served in the friendly lounge. You feel at home and it is nice to chat with other guests. We had the Goswick room, previously had Dunstanburgh and once again the room was so clean and airy and the bed is fantastic. I must mention the cookies that are supplied daily also. Friends has an atic room and loved it too. This is a true Northumberland gem which we will come back to time and again due to the ambience and great location.

The perfect getaway Having read the reviews before booking we were expecting this hotel to be good- and we were certainly not disappointed, it exceeded expectations. Elegant without being stuffy, delightful staff, attentive and helpful in every way, nothing was too much trouble. The decor throughout is beautifully themed and in keeping with the building itself. Parking was easy, despite Alnwick being much busier than expected in October. The breakfasts were excellent, and the evening meals first class. Wish we could have stayed longer and will certainly return.

Lovely hotel We have stayed here a couple of times . Good location in Alnwick. Really lovely hotel with a great vibe. Quite quirky. Friendly staff. Rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Parking outside the hotel usually not a problem. Both dinner and breakfast are good. Can 100% recommend. We hope to stay again at some point.

The perfect getaway From the moment of entering all staff were attentive, polite and knowledgeable of the area. We were able to drop off bags, advised where to park etc . The Cuthbert room was my choice, fabulous room, the attention to detail was exceptional, not just in my room but throughout the hotel. We chose to eat in the restaurant on the second night, all three courses were wonderful, particularly the bread and butter pudding! Best three days of the holiday, wish we could have stayed longer…. Now booking to go back in November.

Did not disappoint We enjoyed everything about our stay. The room was lovely, the bed absolutely sumptuous and the food delicious. Before our stay, I had one concern, parking: I needn't have worried at all as spaces were always available outside and restrictions are minimal. It's a treat to stay here.

HOTEL AND RESTAURANT WERE BOTH OUTSTANDING From the time we arrived until we (reluctantly) moved on, our four-night stay was incredible! We received a warm welcome from Debbie, and both she and general Manager Mick were superb hosts throughout. Our room was spacious, spotless and totally luxurious. From our window we could see the battlements of Alnwick Castle, just a few steps down the road. Every conceivable amenity was in place and our super-comfortable bed ensured restful sleep. There was absolutely no problem finding an on-street parking space each night, literally outside the hotel or a few paces away. As for the food, all I can say is Wow! Great tastes, good value, in a refined dining room setting or outside on the garden terrace. We only intended to dine in the hotel once, but we were so impressed that we immediately booked for a second night's dinner. Breakfasts were also great. Highly recommended, and I would advise booking well ahead of your planned arrival, as this place is in high demand.
